Well it's all put together. I'm not a Mike Brooks thats for sure but I'm happy with it and my buddy loves it so it's all good. Hopefully we can take some good pic's of it outside tomorrow....and I can't wait to see him in a pic with a deer, I look forward to that day. :v

swamp rat: I am so glad to see that you didn't cover up that beautiful grain with a useless patchbox. The inlay on the cheekpiece is very nice, too. :hatsoff:

He actually wanted one till I pointed out it would be almost a crime to do so. :haha: Once I handed him a piece of curly maple I had stained and finished to show the grain, he agreed with me about omitting the PB.

And you were worring about tackling that short English rifle project. Nice work. BJH

Hello my friend, my 3 year project. :haha: I need to PM you pic's of that, I've gone in a slightly differant direction and don't think we can call it a "short English" no more. Umm more like Swampy's short rifle now....

It's basically "in the white" atm and I am getting it ready for some range time tomorrow. I have a hunt coming up Oct 10 and hope to be using it, finally...if I get my act together and finish the dang thing. :v

Swamp Rat,
Your time, patience and skill certainly
shows in the finished product. You should be
very proud. It's beautiful!!!!!
snake-eyes  :applause: :hatsoff:

Swamp Rat, very nice! I love the color.
You do very nice work. I also like the "no patch box" thing.

Heres a lefty Isaac Haines I'm finishing up for a friend. This is after 3 coats of Nitrate of Iron stain. It's soaking in some sun after applying the 3rd coat of sealer. A beautiful chocolate brown, to bad the best of the curl was on the cheeck piece side, the other side is lacking but still looks good.

My hats off to you, Swamp Rat! That is a simply elegant piece of work that you've performed. Your friend will be might happy with your labor of love. :hatsoff:
