Been wanting another 6 pt Hudson Bay blanket like the one I lost in the house fire 6 years ago. I took darn good care of it and it was warm as could be. Saw a 4 point white with pastel stripes at an antique shop on Tuesday. It had most of the nap (thickness) but was severely frayed along the selvage. It was also full of pet hair. Still, if cleaned and repaired properly, it would be quite serviceable. How much? and the reply was $300. I'd buy a new one for $500 before I would pay that for the condition of the one he had.

But not Old Bay !
It brings out the campfire flavor….

Old Bay is the best..... when I first started this hobby/endeavor 25 years ago, you could find Hudson Bay & Whitney blankets at Goodwill, Arc garage sales, for $5 $6 all day long, I probably have a dozen or so. Not so much anymore. I have not found a blanket in a thrift store in years. About 10 years ago I found three in one store... I will sell one for $550.... (humor).

I have a thing for wool blankets, buy every one I can get my hands on, there was a time when yard sales and auctions was my favorite haunts could pick up good blankets at a fair price but alas those times seem too be a thing of the past. The other issue is if you think woolrich ones are selling at a premium try too find one hand made. Was at a juried craft show a few years back there was a lady there making and selling very nice period correct blankets but at a very nice price also.

I don't know what " Old Bay" is, but what's in that skillet looks really good!

My wife took a trip to Alberta with one of our granddaughters a few years ago, and brought back a genuine HBC blanket, one of the white ones with the multi-colored stripes. It was a "consolation gift" for me, since I couldn't get away for the trip. I'm mighty proud to have it. We don't use it much, but we get a few cold winter nights, even in Florida. There's no need for an electric blanket, if you have one of those!

I didn't ask what she paid for it. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, you know. I'm glad to have it.

That’s it!
It’s Great on seafood as well👍

Dutch oven has bell pepper, red potato's, onion, kielbasa and about a table spoon of butter. Seasoned with Old Bay.👍

I use charcoal 8-10 under the 12” oven and 16-18 on top.
Cooks in about an hour.. easy peasy.👍

It will surely be several months before I get under my HBC blanket again... We need cold weather for that. However, Old Bay seasoning and kielbasa are now on the shopping list. That picture in @smo 's post has "done flung a cravin' on me," and I plan to give that recipe a try as soon as I can.

Buy some frozen, deveined shrimp with the tails on. Place enough for a serving on a microwave safe plate cover and heat for 1minute & 30 seconds…

Drain water from the plate , sprinkle with Old Bay & heat for another minute..drain again and break out the cocktail sauce!

Timing kinda depends on your microwave, but doesn’t take long to figure it out.

Kinda makes a good appetizer for the kielbasa & taters.

You can Thank me later….👍
