The better a hunter you are, the smaller the caliber that you can use successfully. Wonky
 
OK. Who makes a .90 caliber rifle? :rotf:

IMHO the caliber is dictated by the game, not the hunter's skill. As well as dictated by the Game & Wildlife Regulations for some states. The best shot in the world can't hunt deer legally in NY with a .40 cal.
 
The advantage is always going to go to the larger caliber all things being equal. I shoot a .54 and kill deer. My brother shoots a .50 and kills deer. Even with a marginal hit to the vitals (ie only one lung hit) both will still make meat. The only advantage of the .50 over the .54 is that it is a little cheaper to feed. :wink:
