Thanks, the gun is in cal .40 don't know how long it is, haven't got it home yet. Yes, the dogs like to chase squirrels. The pistol is extraordinary. The Continental style is elegant. We need details, though! Caliber, dimensions... I understand some of these pistols had a single set trigger ( a stecher, I believe?), but the trigger on yours looks like a straight pull. What can you tell us?
Those must be your squirrel dogs, and their lovely handler.

Beautiful handgun. However, I don't see any sights. The front sight platform is there, but I don't see a sight blade sticking up. As for a rear sight, there is something showing a bit behind the nipple; not sure if that is a sight or what.
Looks French or maybe Belgium to me.
Yes, more info is needed/wanted. >)

If you need help finding or deciding on a suitable .40 conical for that, either PM me or ask in your thread, I'm sure that there are other .40 conical shooters in here besides me. Light-short conicals will serve you better in that slow round ball twist. Thanks
Will try to find someone suitable
bullet in cal .40 or slightly smaller.
Yes, I would be happy to receive help, I find it difficult to find bullet mould. If you need help finding or deciding on a suitable .40 conical for that, either PM me or ask in your thread, I'm sure that there are other .40 conical shooters in here besides me. LEE & BACO molds are good molds.Yes, I would be happy to receive help, I find it difficult to find bullet mould.
A patch ball shooting bore will generally have a much slower twist and the grooves often two or three times as deep as a conical shooting bore.My guess is an original gun like that (if it is) has a patched ball twist and may not handle conicals well.
Won't hurt to try some though and find out !
