Mr. Roundball,
Best of luck! With any kind of luck (for us), Caribou and Moose will open in three weeks. Grizz and Black Bear are open now. No charge for license or permits (residents over 60).
Best Wishes

Going bear hunting the third week in August. Bear tag is taped up on the calendar. Been practicing every week with the flintlock since February. Even been getting on the treadmill and sweating some as there's gonna be some hiking around in the mountains. Yeah, I'm stoked. ::

Here in Michigan it is time to apply for fall turkey license. Can hunt hen or tom in the fall. Really looking forward to it. :front:

I ordered online on July 1 and just got all of mine in the mail yesterday! (Felt like Christmas!) All $88.50 worth! (Costs like Christmas, too!)

Mine included $20 for Furbearer and $3 for Migratory bird in addition to the basic license, muzzleloading, archery, & bear - and doesn't include the 3 doe tags I'll get as well!

:hmm: ... seems like there was just another thread somewhere on this forum about BIG$$$ on which I was ranting.

Anyone want to calculate the actual cost of venison per pound when you take into account all of the "hidden" costs?

(To top it off, last year I got a speeding ticket :curse: coming home from deer camp...)

... we've been enjoying that $100 per pound venison all year, though!

We've got a pretty sweet deal here in Oklahoma as well.

3 bucks
3 does
1 bonus deer if you are drawn for a special hunt
1 antelope if you are drawn for a special hunt
1 elk, again, if you are drawn--which I never have been
Up to 4 turkeys (depending on the counties you hunt)
All the hogs you care to shoot
small game
upland birds including quail and pheasant
predators

All of this costs me exactly 0 dollars thanks to the lifetime hunting license I purchased in 1981 for $125.

I do have to pony up $3 for a migratory bird permit to hunt dove and of course purchase a federal stamp for waterfowl.

Pretty danged cheap hunting!

Don't you hate it when you wake up at night and start thinking about deer and can't go back to sleep!

DANG IT!!! :D

The closer it gets to opening day the worse it gets.

How about the dream that you wake up late on opening morning and come flying out of bed cursing to see it's only 1:30 AM.

Old Salt

or worse yet is that ya fergit to set yer alarm and WHEN ya wake up it's bout 9:00am....................bob

The night before deer season is, no doubt, a sleepless one. I set an alarm, but I beat it every time. I remember the morning of my very first elk hunt. I woke up when I woke up, extra early since I didn't have any bearing on mountain time, walked out and just sat there for three hours before it began breaking daylight.

I hear ya!Usually the week before is a sleepless one for me.Come to think Of it the whole season I can't think of anything but.... :)

Well..being almost dead, my license don't cost nothin..but I'm really chomp-in at the bit for gun season..if my flintlock parts don't get here soon I want have a rifle in time..(didn't get to hunt but 1-1/2 days last season due to health so wish the season would hurry up and get here before something else goes wrong. Hell gettin old.

Thanks Bob for doing all that mathamatical figuring stuff for the license and all

Resident hunting and fishing for all small game, birds, (except migratory fowl), and all fish unless you want to keep trout is $19 per annum. I think deer tags are $10.00 each and depending on the area you hunt I believe you can buy up to 6 of them. If I hunt on my own land, which I do most of the time, I don't pay for deer or turkey tags.

Squirrel season has been open since Memorial Day weekend and will be open until Feb. 15th and coyote is open year round except during spring turkey season I believe. If you know where some hogs are it's open year round and no permit required, no limit.
