Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
It's simple to cock a gun silently; long ago I spooked a couple of critters with the sound of the hammer cocking. Setting the trigger has never been a problem for me, at least. The tiny "click" just isn't that loud. I own only one dbl set trigger percussion but as yet have to take it into the woods.
While it may be frowned on (I normally hunt alone) where flintlocks are concerned once I'm in my spot and ready to go, I will cock the flint but leave the frizzen cover on. This way all I have to do to shoot is remove the cover and set the trigger to shoot. If I get up and move the rifle goes to half cock with the cover on the frizzen.
