I bought a new purse. Don't judge me yet.

Come on guys, the song goes... "Daniel Boone was a MAN, he was a BIG MAN"!

I'm pretty sure it doesn't go "Daniel Boone was in drag, he was big on drag"...

What sort of potential does this leather bag have for muzzleloader use? It is a very thick leather that I bought while working in South Africa. Obviously, the zipper has to go. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Bit of lipstick and perfume, maybe a lovely sequence flint bag? Sorry but you did ask. :surrender:

Ron,

I am afraid there is just too much that would have to be changed to make it a pre Civil War hunting pouch, and that it would not be worth the time and materials to do it. However, it looks like it might work well for a regular Non HC/PC hunting pouch.

Back when I used to compete, I preferred a shooting bag that opened like that over the traditional style where the shoulder strap fastened on the back. If you are reloading frequently, it is much easier to do so if you fold the top flap back and don't have the flap in the way every time that you pull something out of the bag or put it back.

Of course if you trip over your own feet while the flap is folded back, you might have to gather up everything. However, that's just conjecture, since it never happened to me.

I am ever in awe of Spence's period documentation and normally my miserably poor attempts to emulate him have fallen short by leagues behind.

However, the following may be for me, one twinkling star of period documentation. In the link below one may find an example of an original 18th Century Woman's Purse that could have been repurposed as a Man's Hunting Pouch with very little or no modification at all. The motif is certainly acceptable as is......

Now, just how would one properly accessorize the above remarkable piece? Oh, think of the possibilities.....!!!
