Hiding in the back of the safe....
I took this gun in on a trade several years ago, it’s an older CVA percussion.50 cal.
The gun has a 28” barrel and I believe it’s a 1 in 56” twist.
The bore looks good I can see no pitting, there is a small amount of discoloration...
But the lands and grooves look great.
The previous owner had made several modifications too the gun , installing a hand made trigger guard and ram rod thimbles that appear hand made as well.
The gun was missing a rear sight and ram rod when I got it and the wood under the trigger gaurd was all but gone...
I installed a rear sight and a TC ram rod I had left over from another project.
I also did away with the screws “holding “ the trigger guard in position and installed peened post and pins too hold the trigger gaurd in its place..
This is an older CVA and should be a great round ball gun.
It’s the perfect size for a younger hunter, Lady hunter or just for a loaner gun.
