I guess, but deer come and go in seconds in the thick stuff I hunt. I've honestly taken shots that went from hearing hooves in the leaves that became a deer about to pass out of my opening to woods full of smoke in two seconds. No time for "glassing", and that would be a lot of movement within 10 to 40 yards of a very observant whitetail at his/her eye level.

Yeah, your right, but Bob's post was about sneaking up on a "doe", only to discover she's a he. In PA, we are asked to not shoot BB's, so proper ID is necessary. But the important thing is that he's healthy enough to even get out there, and enjoy his hunt. :v
