I just got back from the Alabama Kentucky Longrifle Show

I got some wood for my Feather Gun project.

I enlarged a photo by hand a few years back and made a paper pattern. The comb still needs a little tweaking on my pattern but it was enough for me to get a piece of wood.
I did not really think about it but stocks for a 48” barrel are little scarce compared to 44s and 42s.

Surprise surprise......
This is the good thing about going to shows. This is a 1750s English trade gun in the French style.
I can see how guns like this influenced the “Feather Gun” and the Woodsrunner.

In case you are not aware the Feather Gun and the Woodsrunner were possibly made by the same builder.
The Feather has that strong Roman nose comb, not unlike that English Trade gun.

Here’s the real Woodsrunner from a shoe a few years back.
Notice the crooked buttplate.

You have too much hump on the nose on your pattern. I think I have a direct tracing off of the original feather gun....I'll see if i can find it today... since it's below zero!
