I always considered a shotgun as a shotgun. But, not as a smoothie. To me a smoothie or smoothbore meant musket.
And rifle musket (not rifled musket that is a rifle) as being a musket with a rear sight.
Now I guess a smoothie is anything without rifling. One needs to know the persons gun?
Now that I have it straightened out,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,, I'm even more confused! :curse: :haha:

Hain't hit a wunnerful langwitch? We'uns kin say sow menny thangs in so menny ways. I says Smooth rifle iffn it's got rear sight....and also use words like fowler and fusil. To make it even worse I have a fowler with a rear sight....Life gets Tedious sometimes don't hit?

'Course there's always the old "Partridge Popper"(Lt. James Forsythe in 1858") or as some call it, their "Pelter".

If you shoot out the riflings, would it be a half smoothbore? :winking: :haha:

Naaaaaa- is would be a worn out rifle, but still more accurate than a true smoothbore- HA!
Daryl.

Well, smoothbores kill by other means, they blow so much smoke that the animal dies from an asthma attack... :haha:

Geez, a new revelation! :applause:
I thought it was like the walls of Jerico, the noise just shouted them into submission. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
