Looks like ole' Billnpatti lost his "play pretty".

Now, I don't know about the rest of you folks but somehow I have a difficult time imagining ole' Idaho Ron playing with a "play pretty" but ya never know.

This is in a black powder cartridge gun but the same type bullets with grease grooves that are pictured are used and stability requirments are exactly the same.
My best load is 74 grains of Swiss 1.5.
It will take more powder for the same velocity in a muzzle loader though.
Mine are going about 1200fps.
The point is that 1-18 twist will stabilize a bullet this long if going 1200fps.
Some of the guys are going to 1-16 twist for this heavy of bullet and larger but I don't see any real advantage in stability.
One of my target cartridge guns in .45 cal has a 1-16 twist.

".... handgun using straight-walled cartridges not originally developed for rifles."

I don't think the law makers thought that one through carefully. It sure looks like a .25 acp could be legally used. I am not certain, but I think the .22 rf was originally developed for use in a pistol, too. The S&W model #1 was chambered in .22 rf. Hmmm :hmm: hunting deer with a .25 acp or a .22 rf....legal? Maybe...but ethical...naw.

Well, Ron, it looks like you're legal .....so, sic 'em. :haha: And now for that "play pretty"..... :hmm: Go out by your mailbox and wait. :rotf:

I think you should give him the pink one.

"Nothin' like a gnarled, old man with a pink play pretty sittin' on his mantle", I always say.

:rotf:

AZ has some dumb laws too. CANT hunt any big game with a bp revolver in any season but can shoot an elk in BP season with a .32 crockett? Guess it takes too long to consider gettin it right? and why ask those that could help, after all they know it all :idunno:

EDIT: I was wrong...we have a HAM hunt (handgun, archery or muzzle loader) for javalna, I guess a BP revolver would be legal there. But after 3 pig hunts in a row with bad mojo I gave up.
