I think Mike has great videos with lots of helpful info. Im sure lots of black powder enthusiasts would agree that hes a wealth of information. I dont worship him and dont know anyone who really does...but he is a man well deserved of positive reviews, and we support him with them. I dont think it would count or be considered as "worshiping".
Him and Hickok45!
I enjoy watching people who know their subject sharing their knowledge!!

Just saw the video a couple of hours ago. He did have one cap jam but it only took a few seconds to clear it. The gun was made in 1862 and was obviously well cared for. And it was darned accurate. Add in the other information Mike provides and it is a fine video.

He is a wealth of knowledge on BP guns:thumb:. He shoots many different BP firearms and weather you like him or not he has put out a lot of GOOD videos that are informative;). The "naysayers" are the armchair internet warriors who have nothing better to do but find fault with others:doh:. I wish I had the time and dedication to do half of what Mike does:ghostly:

A properly tuned revolver does not need a cap rake or “Manhattan conversion” or any other nonsense. Those cure only the symptoms, not the root causes.

In a nutshell, rough factory hammer faces, oversized nipple orifices, weak factory mainsprings, and overall rough machining compared to the originals are the major contributors to cap jams. All these issues are almost always curable with minor investments in time and resources by owner with no expensive gunsmithing needed.

For those who have not yet seen the video, the info on his specific Navy is interesting. Never thought I’d enjoy learning about the history of nickel playing!
no we know the rest of the story!

----OH SIR MIKE, Master of the Southwest Quadrant of the Universe, Rectifier of our countless misdeeds in the realms of the sixgun (and other beauties) Please accept our humble, oil stained and smoke filled entreaties; WE DO IT ALL FOR YOU!

My cure for cap jams and fouling/cap fragments falling into the works and jamming up thee gun...View attachment 74898
Its a cap rake and hammer shield.
Now you are taking. all my guns have a cap rake and Slixshot nipples. I have a pair of 1860 Armies so equipped with a total of a thousand rounds without a cap jam of any kind,
i am not sure how the shield works but more power to you

And, if you watched, he did have a cap jam with the original. Perhaps if he had used original caps?
I guess that is the reason they were issued in pairs.
Well who knows but he motivated me to get my1861 Navy out and shoot it and it did tget shot oday with NO cap jams..
