I typically like midwayusa.com, however a couple things have thrown me off lately.

1st) I was going to buy a couple of small items that were on sale. I put them in the cart (multiples of each item), when I went to check out there was a $4 surcharge. When I clicked on the question mark next to the surcharge, it stated "the surcharge was for special customers". So, I emptied my cart. Today, I went back and added some items to the cart that were not on sale and no surcharge was incurred. So what this is telling me is they charge a surcharge for items on sale? So, what's the point of the sale!?!

2nd) Will they let you leave a bad review? I have left several good reviews on products and they show up. However, I bought a pair of Danner boots that turned out to be horrible. The boots were uncomfortable, wore unevenly, and the back side tore out of them as I was pulling them on one day. I was going to leave a bad review, and did, but it doesn't show up on their website. I would like to warn other people about this terrible product, but cannot since it won't let me leave a review.

Like I said, I've typically been happy with midwayusa.com, however I placed my last order with MidSouthShooterSupply.com they were cheaper up front on prices and shipping was cheaper too. Also, no surcharge for items on sale.

A surcharge on sale items for special customers makes zero sense, almost incomprehensible. That would have prompted me to call them and ask about it, you still could.

I have used Midway for years and never had any issues, other than things being out of stock, which is not their fault, everybody is out of stock at times.

I do however do most of my online supply buying at Graf and Sons.

I like Graf and Sons too. Placed an order for blackpowder before things became impossible to get.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the surcharge (at midway) for sale items was nonsense.

I used to buy A LOT of stuff from Midway and it felt like it was gun people selling to gun people.

Lately, due mostly to their woke shipping policies to Illinois, I believe they are being run by corporate types with no gun expertise.....

But that's just me.

I would forward Larry what you wrote here
I emailed them pretty much what I wrote here, but being the weekend they have not responded.

Ya most definitely have to look over the total and all charges before you hit the place order button. Seems to me they always slide them sneaky up charges in that show up on the review order page. I bet they are counting on folk to just hit the place order button.
I don't care for trickery Iike that and if it was a small order fee, it didn't go away as I approached the free shipping amount.

I'm just venting here, but what's wrong with just doing a straight up business?

I used to order frequently from Midway USA as well. I just don't find them competitive anymore. Never saw those odd charges, but it has been quite some time since I've ordered from them.

I've many times emptied carts when surprise charges show up at online vendors. Other than realistic shipping costs, other charges are just bogus. I recently had a cart with Buffalo Arms for six different Marble front bead sights. They are pricey. They wanted almost $18 for shipping! Egads...throw them in a small flat rate box or better yet, a small padded mailer for half that! Cleared the cart and didn't order. My SIL runs his own SnapOn Tools business and can ship rather large heavy boxes UPS for less than $18 under his business account. Businesses get better rates than we "walk-in" customers do!

I agree, but for every person like you or me that will cancel and back out, there are a hundred that will go through with the transaction, unfortunately. They can lose our business, and the 1 in 100 others that get ticked off at stupid dishonest fees, and still make far more money. It's a rampant practice in many businesses now.

Graf & Sons has a minimum order of $40 for online orders and they are upfront about it. I have absolutely no trouble meeting it and can always find something else I need or just want if what I am ordering falls short of the minimum. My last order was a few dollars short and I got a nice S&W head lamp so I don't have to borrow my wife's.:)

I only buy from MidwayUSA when I cannot find something elsewhere. They ship UPS, but then whatever agreement they have with UPS, UPS THEN drops the item into the US Mail. My Mail Carrier(s) is/are SKETCHY at best. Sometimes they have sent my mail several streets away, because my address has two digits, and is a cul-de-sac, and the other address is two digits, and is a cul-de-sac. Are the street names similar? NOPE. HOW do I know? Because I get mail for the person on that other street from time to time. So they are not picking on me, they are equally stupid. Now folks tell me that's a UPS policy, to drop the item into the mail, as UPS is short on drivers. so FINE, TELL ME THAT MIGHT HAPPEN and allow me to opt for slightly more costly FedEx, OR allow me to decline making the purchase. I BUY UPS SHIPPING to avoid my sketchy letter carrier. As far as I'm concerned that's a CONTRACT, and if you don't inform me before the purchase that drop-ship via USPS is a possibility, that's a Breech.

I got a pistol and in the shipping manifest is said do not return to midway the item was drop shipped.
While on the phone they denied drop shipping and when I pointed out it was printed as such in their shipping manifest he went silent and then continued to deny drop shipping.
