for cold weather-equal parts bear oil(or olive oil),deer tallow and beeswax...a little more on the oil if too stiff
as an aside, I've had a rifle and smoothbore both loaded since LaborDay wknd-spit patched r/b in both....took'em out to shoot last nite-no problem with ANYTHING-hit where I was aiming,no hangfire,NO PROBLEMS!!-I've done this numerous times-no rust pitting,etc....not to offend, but I think some folks just worry too much....Oh yeah, the smoothie had been shot LaborDay wknd alot-not cleaned, reloaded....still NO PROBLEMS....
And, I'm not someone new to all this..been shooting bp,rendezvousing,etc for over 20yrs...
