King deerslayer....

here's a response i got back from wisc game dept bout the baiting problem that ya talked bout :v ..............bob

Bob, the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources has been in opposition to baiting and feeding of deer and did prohibit it statewide for one year by Administrative Rules that regulate hunting methods. By the next season, several representatives of the State Legislature introduced and passed a bill that prevents the DNR from prohibiting all baiting and feeding for deer. That bill made it legal to bait and feed deer provided the hunter does not place more then 2 gallons of bait or feed for each 40 acres of land, and all bait sites must be at least 100 yards apart. Anyone who does not want baiting or feeding to be allowed would need to contact their local legislators and share their concerns.

If someone is aware of individuals exceeding the 2 gallon limit or number of bait sites per 40 acres, they should report this information immediately to the local Conservation Warden. The penalty for placing to much bait is $530 per offense and potential loss of hunting, fishing and trapping privileges for up to 3 years.

All baiting and feeding of deer is currently illegal in 26 counties in the State where CWD or TB have been detected in or within 10 miles of the county.

Congratulations on the bear! Write your letter, but don't let others' bad habits influence your hobbies. Keep hunting. We need real hunters more than ever.

Let the wardens know about the piles. Let them do their jobs and get the people who are blantly breaking our laws.

During the firearm deer season, I saw many violations including a person standing in the back of a pick-up with a rifle watching for deer.

If I didn't enjoy hunting so much, I would quit because of the other stupid weekend warriors that seem to come out of the woodwork during this week.

Turn them in.

These are the same people we share the road with day in and day out. The people who can't park in one space, can't figure out something as simple as a four way stop, have no concept of lane discipline or right of way. When they pick up a gun, nothing changes. They're the same inconsiderate, selfish idiot, that they are behind the wheel. It's scary out there, whether in the field or just driving to it.

Hi
I also live in WI, the northern part of the state and I too have seen the same problem with bating and parcles of land getting subdived and sold off. For a couple years I have done pretty good positioning myself between others bait piles usually a 1/4 mile or so away from a bunch of them. I just kind of sit in the middle where all the deer sneak through after feeding at night. Seems like you can catch them about 7:00 or so in the morning if you do a good job sneaking into there and watch the wind close. However where I live there are alot of acres of national forest where this works pretty good. I could see it being very difficult where there is limited places to hunt or limited access. I kind of expect to see feeding and baiting come to a close soon. CWD is going to migrate north sooner or later where they will want to bann it which will also help bring back deer movements lke they used to be in the past.
