Anyone here ever loan anything that was special to an in-law? Did you get it back in good condition? Did you even get it back? Well, since my episode, I'm a firm believer in what I was told by a good friend.

"The difference between in-laws and out-laws is that out-laws is wanted!!!

It took me over a day of straight cleaning to get my .58 Zouave back in shooting condition...

My "brother-in-law" broke the front sight blade off, rusted the barrel (left it out in in shed, it was raining and the roof leaked), stuck the ramrod in the barrel while loading/cleaning, he then used vise-grips on my ramrod to try and free the thing... He marred the crown on the barrel with the vise-grips too...

But, I have more hair than he does...

Yes I have loaned things to the in-laws. I had to ask for some tools to be returned....no more. I am now in the daily tool rental business. I draw the line on weapons.
But, they have more hair than me...

I was talked into selling a 2nd generation Walker Colt to a relative one time and I did so with the proviso that, if he came to the point of not wanting it anymore, he would sell it back to me. 6 months later I asked how he was getting along with it...he told me he traded it off for a 'real good handgun' cause the Walker 'didn't shot straight'. This is the same Walker I could hold on a pie plate at 25 yards! I learned my lesson.

I have loaned and never seen again or had returned to me in poor shape:
-1 antique violin (neck broken out)
-1 .45 caliber Kentucky percussion pistol (hadn't been cleaned in the year it took to get it back)
-1 .50 caliber Hawken rifle (breach was split I never discovered how that happened)
-1 17' canoe (had gone over a falls, caught below the falls, and doubled in two)
-1 pickup truck (sold for junk and the money used to by illegal drugs)
-1 Old Craftsman guitar; an antique flat top (never saw the "friend" again)

Now I'm depressed!!!

I make it a point nowdays to only loan what I'm willing to give away. I'm the same way, but when it comes to "in-laws" the only thing I'm willin' ta give is a round ball with 65 grains of ffg behind it.
