Last coat of watco/linseed is drying. Looking at final assembly today. May be able to post completed pics soon. May fire it when rain subsides. May say that aqua fortis stain is weird but works well as does BC Plum Brown. The latter seems to work too well as keeps on browning despite washing and oil.

From what I see in your pictures, I would be real worried about the position of the lock/barrel relationship. That lock is way too far forward. The rear lock bolt seems it would end up where the top bridle screw is for the tumbler, also looks like the touch hole would end up too far forward of the breach
Agree. That inletting/build looks like something I would do. Unfortunate, it is a nice piece of wood that had potential. It seems to me repositioning the lock completely and filling the front gap with a piece of maple is the best option.

Well for better or worse I've taken it as far as i can. Final test will come soon as i get a chance to shoot it. Had to make the plates and other parts from scratch. Some parts are from the junk bins at the Gun Works in Eugene. No work of art but fits me well and weighs in at 7.3 pounds. It will always be "Das Frankenflinter"

Forgot to add (or just forgot) that the large siler lock was sent to (and tuned by) Jim Chambers hisself. Very nice and have the note from him that will stay with the rifle.

First in line. Lets see. What party brought up $6 to $10 gallon gas, Devaluated the dollar by 30+%, decimated the supply chain, Flooded the country with illegals, Destroyed both the workforce and the military, created a war to cover their butts and made the US the joke of the world?
Never mind. I don't know how to delete my reply, so I edited it. No sense even getting started....
