Well, muzzlejrt, you could end up with a stock that looks as though is made from the end of a pallet, and a lock that requires some pretty skilled fettling to even make the flint strike the frizzen face. Remember too that proofing a muzzleloading arm is no proof that the lock actually works at all - it is NOT part of the proof process - only the barrel is.

If all I was doing was carrying it around all day, looking war-y, then I might spring for one, but since a better replica from Italy is still only around a thousand £££ AND has provision for spares why not push the boat out? G*D knows there's little enough these days to cheer us up here. Check the Tier status of Kranks first though.

Me, I'd be on the blower to Mr Britsmoothy - we've all seen his Bess. I'd buy it like a shot if I had a Section 2.

That is what worries me... I'll be up their way in a few weeks so might stop in to take a look but as I've noted in a previous post, they will only grab a couple to pick from. If I could stretch to a Pedersoli, I definitely would but for now, I'm looking around the £400 mark! There is one listed on Gintrader from Firing Solutions for £145 which looks like an 'aged' Indian one. If someone had one second hand that I could see sparking, I'd probably take it
