I have what is probably an elementary question to most here. I'm at the point of installing the trigger and am scratching my head a little about the placement of it. I'm using a Davis double set trigger and a Siler lock. Dixon's "Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle" says to install it so that the sear contacts the rear trigger lever just back of the lever notch. It then says to pull the front trigger back until it's lever exposes itself just above the rear trigger lever then locate the sear in the position of the "V" that is formed. It seems that if I do that the sear will be farther back from the rear trigger notch then "just back" from the notch. Thought maybe one of you guys could just tell me where I should locate it so that it will operate properly. Thanks.

Moose,

The proper way to position a double lever, double sett trigger, is to center the sear on your lock directly above the adjustment screw between your two triggers. This puts the lock in a position where it can be set off using the front trigger without setting the rear, or used normally as a hair trigger by setting the rear. :yakyak:

Did that make sense??

Hope this helps. :v

Thanks Smallpatch. That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Later tonight I'm going to head to the shop, size it up, and probably start inletting. Thanks again.
