I have seen a pistol in a very similar configuration.
It was "cocked" via barrel rotation, that allowed the "slapper" to ride up a ramp on the trigger forward of the trigger pivot. It was fired much like a "double action" (more modern).
It appeared to be about the simplest method of discharging a cap that I have ever seen.
As to the rifle, the nipple on the one is on the right side, where the pistol was mounted on the belly.
The trigger pull on a rifle as shown could be as light as you wanted if you used an intermediate sear. The plunger would have to slide in it's receptacle smoothly, but by installing a sear perpendicular to the plunger that was in turn rotated by a captive arm (very similar to a Desmodromic valve on a Ducati motorcycle) the trigger could be very crisp and light. Just a quick thought.
Perhaps the posted rifle has a similar mechanism, or perhaps a far superior design!
I have always enjoyed and greatly respected originality and ingenuity.
I really enjoyed the pictures. :hatsoff:

I saw a underhammer a while back that was barrel, hammer trigger pin v spring and stock(recv) it doesnt get more simple than that(I thought). Fred
