It really works for me, but I'm a lefty who grew up with righty bolt rifles and lefty cheekpieces before lefty bolts were available. Though I've never seen a period piece done that way, it makes sense to me that it was done that way before any lefty locks came on he scene.

And in fact I've got a GRRW Hawken 58 done just that way. With the cheek piece and a little cast off, it's still real comfortable even with stiff loads. But every time a rightie shooter tries it they whine about recoil. Helps them realize what I go through with righty guns, and I call their pain sweet revenge!

 Roy's done it again!........Now R/C maybe you'll be able to get some sleep nights instead of frettin' about what your new rifle is gonna look like
Beautiful lines, great colour, perfect fits, what more could a fellar ask??

RC, that's absolutely beautiful. Roy you need to teach me how to build these gorgeous smoothies and rifles. RC, I hope to see all these nice toys at the N'eastern!!!!

That is a very nice looking early gun, just enough carving to catch the eye and add visual balance without overpowering, very nice work

I like it! I built a jeager the same way last year, I guess it gets some strange looks at events. but the owner is very happy....well, maybe not as happy as you are! :haha:

Very nice! I did a doubletake when I saw the pictures before reading the story. I hope she shoots as good as she looks!

:hmm: gees shoulda been easy fer you! :blah:

ya would think, but the dyslexia didn't help :haha: :youcrazy: must not have been working that day

well gees, :( ya get somethin "
different" built and they come outa the woodwork! :shake: now ain't worried bout brown bear's...he be in alaska..whoever sees mine probably won't see his... but i don't know where mike brooks' jeager is...probably be at the n'eastern next month! :haha: hey Roy....that double patchbox and triple trigger lookin better..

Actually, it's real nice to know there's more around. Still hope to see some originals, because it sure makes sense.

Can't say whether it's due to years of conditioning, but reaching across the wrist to **** a gun is sure a lot easier and more natural than grabbing the hammer on the right....or is it left....side of the rifle.

Seeing yours and Mike's and my experience with the GRRW encourages me to do the same again on a build. I'll probably go ahead and use a lefty lock on a flinter just to get the flint and pan out from in front of my face (bad experience), but I'll build my next capper this way.
