New to the forum, thanks for having me. I took advantage of our late season traditional muzzleloader season here in MT and now I’m hooked. I purchased a Traditions Hawken Woodsman .50 this past fall and was really not knowing what to expect. I was amazed how well it shot. After many days on the range I was absolutely comfortable out to 75 yards using 80 grain pyrodex with PRB. I killed 2 WT does and what a blast. As I dive into my new addiction wondering thoughts on the Investarm‘s Gemmer Hawken .54 for elk? Headed to ID this summer hope to stop at Buffalo Arms to get some Goex 2F.

I really like the Gemmer Hawken, I don’t own one but I will. They are basically the same as the Lyman Great Plains rifle, Investarm makes them. I have an Investarm Bridger Hawken in 45, great rifle in function and accuracy. I like it for what it is,
