Thank You! Much appreciated! Really a nice kit, but more work than I expected, but I’m glad it kept me busy!
I picked up an unmade Lyman Great Plains kit a few years ago and finally put it together two years ago. It is a great kit but waaaay too much wood. As you wrote, foolish cheek piece, took lots of wood off. The finished gun, however, is sweet. Enjoy! Polecat 🦨
 
For those who use substitute powders, a flintlock is not a good choice as the substitutes are hard to light off in a flintlock. Percussion guns usually handle substitutes OK, although I never use substitutes in any of my muzzleloaders, especially Pyrodex.
