Can anyone critque the Investarms Hawken rifle? I read that Investarms makes Lyman rifles and Hawkens for Dixie and Cabelas. Any information and experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I have both the Lyman GPR and the cabelas Hawken.
Both perc. 54 cal.
They are very accurate, sturdy and rugged.
Very good quality.

Thanks Airborne, I just bought a 54 cal for $149CDN. It is in good condition, the barrel has a bit of rust at the muzzle. I plan to buy a 40 cal barrel for it. It is the first Hawken I have owned.

Cheers
Kevin

I have the cabelas hawkins in the 50 cal and it is a great gun. I haven't made meat with it yet, but I hope to soon.

I have two .54 Lyman GPRs. One percussion and one flint. Investarms of Italy make some of the best production rifles around. See if you can save that .54 barrel. It is an excellent caliber.

I have a kentuckian made by investarm. I don't know how correct it is, but the quality seems to be there IMO. :hmm:

Investarms does make the Lyman guns. They put the same high quality into their own branded guns too. I have a GPR and Investarms Hawken and both are very high quality and good shooters. I bought mine from Dixie to save a few bucks and not have the Cabelas logo on the barrel. I highly recommend the Investarms guns.

I have a pair I picked up for 90 each from a gun dealer getting out of BP stuff, got the "normal length and short barrel one's in 54, they are rugged but after writing that be carefull with a screwdriver cause they scratch really easy, but for the rest its really stout. Fred :hatsoff:

Cpl.Parker,
I have 3 Investarms Hawkens. 2 .50cal and 1 .54cal
and I am completely satisfied with all 3. Just my
opinion.

I purchased the Cabela's Hawkens Carbine in .54 cal. So far I love the gun. It shoots just about everything I put in it. The wood was, I think, the one thing that impressed me the most. It was gorgeous. I had a lot of reservations on buying a gun through the mail, but when I opened the box I was greatly suprised and happy. Invest Arms puts out a quility product!

A friend gave me another barrel in .50 cal. It is a bit rough in the bore, but so far shoots Maxi-Hunters very well. I will have to do a lot of scrubbing and lapping to get the bore into shape so I can shoot PRBs.

It will go into the field with next fall. Because of its small size, it will make a great tree stand gun.

Good luck with yours and have loads of fun doing it.

Hi from Germany,

I have a GPR in .45 capgun for targetshooting and a Investarm Hawken in .54 capgun for hunting. I'll soon get another Hawken in .50 flinter. I agree with all other responders . They are the best production rifles I know. Straight shooters with good solid function. I like them.

I have 2 lyman GPR's both 54 cal,one flint and one cap. Both are great guns.I also have a Cabelas 54 cal hawkin and my son has a 50 cal cabelas hawkin.I had to tweak the hammer a little on my cabelas hawkin to get it to hit the nipple correctly but they are all great shooters.

Thats the same on hat sold for 90 last year, wish you all could of got in on it the guy had about 250 of them, and no one belived he was selling so cheap he had them it seemd forever, about 6 months till I PUT A 2ND POST ON! WOW as they got gone. Great littl shooting irons. fred :hatsoff:

You folks are correct, the Hawken arrived and it is beautiful. I am most impressed with my buck and a half rifle, fit and finish a very good. I am taking it out to play tomorrow.

Thanks for all the positive remarks.
Kevin

Congrats! Have fun and give a range report. Got my flinter in .54 soon. Then my flinter career wil start.

I have a lefty hawken from Cabelas in 50 caliber but I havent got to shoot it yet. The set trigger is very heavy but I am also comparing it to my custom flintlock. Everything else looks good. I just sold a lefty in 54 and have one in a carbine that I am trying to sell. I thought I could move them faster than I have been able too. Oh well. I will give a report on the 50 if I can ever make it out to the range.

My first ML was a Cabela's .54 cal Hawken. I have since bought a .54 cal Lyman GPR and have replaced the .54 bbl on the Cabela's with a Green Mountain .40 cal IBS. The .40 cal was a drop-in, as advertised, and shoots better than I am capable of. Wouldn't try to dissuade anyone from doing the same. Cheers . . . Otter

I took the Hawken to the range yesterday and I am impressed. I really like the trigger and sights. It took me a while to get comfortable with the adjustable sights and two triggers, I usually shoot a fowler or my bess.
