It looks like you've doubled your score, so you're definitely improving! So that we may understand the match score a little better, a few questions:

1. How many shots allowed in the course of fire?

2. Using both hands or is this strong-hand only "duelist-style" shooting?

3. What exactly is the target? A B-6 NRA Official 50 yard Slow-Fire Pistol Target? Some sort of animal target like a 50 yard Buffalo from the NMLRA? Sorta need to know for a common frame of reference.

4. Is this just a 50 yard shoot, or are 25 yard targets also shot in some sort of aggregate?

Sorry for all of the questions, but we can give better answers with better info from you.

Either way, don't worry about what the frame of the revolver looks like--unless you've maxed-out the loads and will shoot it loose!

i should have listed them last night. but to answer your questions, here they are
#1 10 per target, 2 5round loads
#2 strong arm, i shoot right hand, left hand is to be at the small of back
#3 the 50yard slow fire pistol target, official nra,on the lower right of the target P-1
#4 50yards, missed the 25 yard shoot , i am to do it this next shoot, or when i can, depends if the nra fellow is present, he is our club rep, and instructor. the reason for posting the frame, it is the non target pistol.

Are you saying the off-hand "Has" to be at the small of the back, or just not touching the gun.
I ask this because I feel the arm behind the back is a poor choice. I'd suggest, if you can, to hook your thumb in your belt above the buckle, or in a pocket. This seems to be more comfortable for most shooters, and creates less stress, which helps you from tiring over the course of the match. I agree that something must be done to stop the free-hand from creating any body movement, but the more relaxed you are, the better you'll shoot.
Sounds to me you're coming along just nice. Don't get too hung up on the score. It's just a number. Enjoy.

thanks and no, the free hand can be any place, just not on gun, i choose this position for the way i was trained, i have tried putting it in other places, even had it in a sling once, i just like it be hind my back in the small of my back. i have seen others put it this way and that, i just fell better the way i stand. i could care less abut the numbers, that is why i was asking abut them,is it good or bad? i hit paper , paper has holes now, but what do then numbers mean? :idunno:

Like R.M. says, "It's only a number". From 50 yards away most pontificators here on this forum wouldn't do much better their first time out! Most matches have a 25 yard portion, which it looks like you had missed. During that portion, you would normally get a chance to figure-out where your gun is hitting that day, so you wouldn't have to sight it in at the longer distance, thereby being at a disadvantage.

So 40 is a good starting number! With practice, your scores will climb. As they do you'll begin to notice what works and what can't be relied upon technique-wise. Remember to try to do everything the same as you load, sight, and shoot!

Enjoy yourself and remember to breathe deep when the smoke blows back into yer face!

got to love that smoke, might help with my smoking habit. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I've been practicing with strong-hand for a while now, and I find my best use of the weak hand is to put my thumb through a belt loop or into my pants pocket. It lets me forget that I even have that arm, as no tension is created to hold that position, and I can concentrate on feet position and sight picture with the strong hand.

Good shooting with a hand gun starts with good foot position, and being relaxed, but still able to remember what you did so that you can do it again and again (when you hit pay-dirt, like a ten or X).

me be i need to work on my footing, can your feet be any place, or is their a certain way you have too stand, i was told shooting foot ,point towards target, non shooting foot 90% from target :idunno:

Nobody can tell you how to stand, you need to find that spot for yourself. What you need to find is "Your" natural point of aim. Most will start at 45º to the target. Aim at the target. Close your eyes for a couple of seconds, then see where your pointed. Adjust yourself accordingly. What you need is constancy. Do the exact same thing for every shot. In time, you will be able to walk up to the line, and place yourself in your perfect position with-out even thinking. It all takes time.

Just like R.M. said, you have to find out what is natural for you! Practice at home so you can do it in your sleep. If you feel anything "pulling" on you or your arms, adjust the position and try again. I kinda like a 45 degree torso angle myself, cause it just feels right to me. I'm very relaxed and can hold the revolver there a long time without a problem.

For a two-handed hold I like to square-off to the target. I shoot multiple types of guns in several different disciplines, so I even practice weak hand only shooting, cause we use it in USPSA and IDPA for instance.
