Well, this has been quit interesting. I've got a fiberglass ramrod, and a steel one, and a stainless steel one, and a brass sectional cleaning rod. I like the 3/8" brass one the best. All have been waxed and I always use a rod guide, even on the smooth bore. I got the brass one from Possibles Shop and I got an extra 11" extension piece. The black one is fiberglass. I added a 6" aluminum extension to the top of it below the CVA palm saver. I only use the palm saver when cleaning, never for loading. I've already acquired a small box full of thread adapters of all sorts, jags, worms, ball pullers. The end of the fiberglass rod is pinned and glued. I would only use the steel or stainless steel rod to pull a stuck ball though.
