Why not make the grease gun video a sticky to help guys find it before they get into bigger trouble with stuck items in their barrels?
Why not just don't get stuff stuck in your barrel? LOL Just giving you the BIZ. That's actually a good idea. Perhaps there should be an area, there may-be already I just don't know it, of 'HOW TO' videos for members to reference for when they run into an issue and need a quick solution. Moderators could screen submissions to ensure the videos are actually provide a safe solution. Semper Fi.

I think I said this when you 1st posted it. If not, I definitely thought it.
Your video and the posts from the other member (I'm sorry I can't remember his screen name) who was sent a totally screwed up barrel with a stuck bullet in it and used your method to remove it should be stickies, and in bright red at the top of a few different sub-forums.

Actually,,,, upon further reflection,,, a "sticky" on thos solution is a bad idea.
It could kill this forum.
If we can't have 7 or 8 pages of arguing, the same "solutions" being repeated every 4 or 5 replies, the same reminder that that "solution" was tried and it failed being repeated almost as often, reminders to actually read the whole thread before posting another repeat, and of course an extra 2 pages of this after the o.p. has told us the obstruction has been cleared,,,,,,, this place would be awfully quiet.

😑

Kidding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, sorta 😄😄😄🙄

Yes you did. The two threads should be combined and placed at the top.
I have a 150 psi compressor. Yes I can remove a load at the end of the day to keep from shooting it. I have done it a hundred times. If I had just a dry ball, yes use the compressor, or co2 both will work fine.

Some guys refuse to acknowledge that there is a difference between a dry ball and a stuck ball. There is also a difference between a stuck ball and a ball that is stuck with a screw in it and a half a ram rod, along with a Christmas tree.

The consensus of the tribe is baffling to me.
A truly stuck ball isn't coming out with a compressor or CO2 but that is the go to way to get it out from the guys that have never had a truly stuck object in the barrel.
Shoot it out is the next option. Even if it is half way down the barrel, to heck with it shoot it out. So what if it blows the guy up.
The next viable option is remove a breech plug? most guys don't have a vise big enough, or a bench that could handle that operation, or a breech plug wrench, or the ability to seat it properly once done. SO what is next? Lets heat the barrel to 800 degrees and melt it out
Who cares if the barrel ruptures. Its not my barrel seems to be the thought.
The grease gun is the worst way to go. Because it is messy :dunno:

You are spot on

ok for a change I'm not going to kick the hornets nest humm must be getting old! any way the grease gun method does but instead of grease fill it with the liquid of your choice not as much of a mess to clean up! I can't take credit for the idea farmers and mechanics have been using it forever to un stick engines forever just saying

So now the thread on "should we have a sticky" is morphing back into methods of removing a stuck ball. People love posting about it and as was mentioned it is always a subject for good (?) entertainment.😄

As a working mechanic my whole life, I done many things, and saw many things that work for different things. One of those was to take a hand grease, and fill it with 80-90 transmission lube. We used this to grease u- joints on early four-wheel-drive pickups, and it worked better than gun grease during cold weather. If the ball was sealed tight, I'm sure that would have pushed it out too, but you still have the clean up to do. I would be leery of using stuff like diesel fuel, because high-pressure is what is used to ignite it in an engine.
Squint

i was specifically thinking water as that is the only thing i use to clean my guns no detergent allowed in mine but anything liquid works. once it starts to move compressed air will finish the job just put the barrel in a bucket to contain the mess

I should just start a business. If you have a stuck object in your barrel send it to me. I will remove it for 100.00 bucks and send it back.
There are lots of gunsmiths around who do that very thing. Last one I remember we charged fifty bucks to remove a ball with a pulled-off ramrod end and a ball & bullet puller stuck in it from the bore of a CVA Mountain Rifle. We got it out with compressed air, if memory serves and the projectile bounced around the shop a while before falling into a floor drain. Safety glasses are necessary.

Well I agree with you and I ain't kidding! Between patch lube, stuck projectiles, the killing power (or lack thereof) of a bullet and how to clean a BP gun, that constitutes 85% of the traffic.

EDIT: I forgot one....Is it sold yet? in classifieds
