It's .75 bore and 15 1/2 inches long. But is it a cheap antique or expensive Phillipino pot metal?

Unless of course, you had a VERY, VERY, powerful magnet! :rotf:

Actually, at the shop I have a large pressure formed neodymium-iron-boron magnet that will convince a macadamia nut to stick around, and you can positively feel the pull with a banana.

I am not making this up! :haha:

I think I do need it, in fact I got it for $360, is this "big bore syndrome"?

Apparently some old chap who has been collecting for the last 45 years is now selling up because his son has no interest. I spoke to his wife, she assured me it was old.

An odd shape to the lock plate, wonder where it's from

Just north of the "M" in Mindanao is the southern tips of Cebu and Negros Oriental. Thats where our Beach is and where all my cannons have been being shipped too. We are opening a Pirate themed Scuba Resort there. We dive there every year. 7107 islands that look like Bahama.,White Sand and coconuts everywhere ! If youve never been there its truly a paradise .
They say it takes all kinds..,I am one of those kind.

Squire: When you remove the barrel and the bottom of it is stamped Made in USA remember the Japanese created a town called "USA" (no periods) back in the 1950s so they could mark their products that way. :rotf: :rotf:

I will hazard a guess: it's real. I don't think a knockoff would bother with the ramrod retainer. Any possibility of a better picture? In particular, a good picture of the top of the breech so we can see any markings there. All British, French, Belgian, Dutch and Spanish guns will have a proofmark there.

There will be plenty of pictures but I have to get my sticky fingers on it first. This is the auction picture after I cropped it and turned up the lights somewhat

Wow - that's cheap enough all right. Do keep us posted.

Aw, pistol arrived and wasn't .75 it's a boring old .69 :shake:

Sea service, India proofs, 1820'ish, replacement cock sitting to far forwards on the tumbler, a few patches to the wood and one small crack. Shootable with a new cock but I don't think I'll bother.

Probably worth the $360 though, anyone want to buy a pistol? :rotf:
