I was just at Cabela's picking up the percussion caps I ordered and noted their display case for cb revolvers was full.

The backed up orders from Pietta and Uberti broke loose like a dam and all the post-pandemic production came in like a wave

Remember, we are only a fraction of the market, 90% of people interested in firearms don't mess with any blackpowder stuff they can't hunt with. They do sell and every single one of my friends who bought one got it as a novelty or a "toy" because you can just buy one for $300 and go blow smoke. They are kind of dumbfounded that I'm so serious about shooting cap and ball revolvers and military rifles and muskets.

I remember buying my Uberti Dragoon in 2019 from Dixie and it was 3 years old. They weren't flying off the shelves back then. I think (hope) that once people gobble up the fresh supply just because it's there and hasn't been, there will just be normal inventory. Ammo prices I'm sure have gotten a few people into blackpowder guns but a lot of them realize they actually take work to shoot a lot, and give up

Also the huge European market, and the cap and ball CAS stages help keep demand up and motivate the Italian gunmakers to push out product

Is Cowboy Shooting huge in Europe where they can't use cartridge revolvers? I'm not sure, Dr Nemeth does a lot of shooting with Ubertis and they seem to love Walkers for 25 meter bullseye

Went by the hugemongous Bass Pro in Grapevine, TX earlier this summer and asked for an 1851 Navy that showed in stock on line. Drove about a half hour out of the way to get there. Hugemongous mistake. Nope, wasn't there & ain't been there in memory of any of the clerks. Asked if they could check their computer to see if any other Bass Pro/Cabela's had one in the DFW area. Nope. Couldn't do that either, their computer system couldn't do that type of search. Which is a big LIE, for at the Bass Pro in Bossier City, LA; the clerk showed my cousin & I the screen that showed where other stores had a particular item in stock and the quantity that they had at each store that had it. These clerks waved vaguely to the east and said some other stores 'that direction' may have some in stock. Not wanting to go off on a magical mystery tour of Bass Pro & Cabela's stores; went home and called Cabela's corporate. The 'customer service' rep tried to tell me again that they could not search their inventory. Asked him just what good was their store inventory system if they could not look up items for customers? All he could do was ask if there was anything else he could do? Told him apparently not and not wasting either my time or money on that bunch.

The clerks are that lazy that they can't look up info for a customer, of course they know what's in stock they just want people to go away so they can keep playing with their phones

If you search percussion caps at the Pro Bass Shops or Cabelas website in the SE US, you get directed to hunting or sports team caps and hats. I cannot say how disgusted I am with this chain!
