Is this enough spark?

This seems like not enough sparks to me in this slo-mo. I hardened the frizzen with Casenite once but only one cycle of heat/quench.

So far my problems with a frizzen that won't spark has been from a couple frizzens that were too hard. I just throw em in the oven at 400 for an hour or so and try em again when they cool. I've done two that were too hard like that and they spark great now.

I'd like to see a little more but I'm far from an expert. It does seem to spark enough to light the powder. Try a few shot with powder in the pan only and see. If that works try a load.

It never occurred to me that it might be too hard.

Out of curiosity, how do the flints fire if you invert them? may improve it...maybe not. Each gun is different.

what is the green/yellow material you are using for jaw leather? seems pretty thick and soft. thinner leather may increase the spark too.

Tough to tell from your video, but, it looks to me like your flint is striking too low and maybe too square. I'm not familiar with those locks but seems you should be getting more spark.
I paused the video and played with the red bar that moves one forward and back trying to find the spot the flint strikes the steel. This was the best I could come up with

I wish it were more clear but to me it looks like the pan has barely, if at all, started to open and the flint is almost to the bottom.
The marks on the frizzen with the flint at rest is what initially had me thinking this.

Throw that agate man made cut flint away and put a real black English or French amber flint in the jaws. Also wrap it in leather not whatever that green stuff is. That’s your problem. I’ve never seen a cut flint throw near as many sparks as real flint. With that said the few sparks that cut flint is throwing will still set off a powder charge. Those man made flints dull really fast so don’t expect many more sparks from it after a few shots.

that flint is to short and is hitting clear at the bottom of the frizzen. But there are sparks in the pan.

Like TreeMan said! I think you would be well-served getting a real napped gun flint. Cut agate "flints" are lousy, in my opinion. I am certain you will see a marked improvement!
