Yes, that's the only color I used and the oil is just Tru oil. It only has a few coats on it now but will be getting some more. I don't know if Haines ever used iron furniture
but I like it and Track offered it so I got it. Brass is easier to work and doesn't have to be browned but a blacksmith could forge the iron parts so who knows. Our club got together today and I showed it around and let some of the members shoot it. They liked it and commented on how well it balanced and it did shoot well.

When I installed the 1/4 liner, it looked about right to me. Ignition was slow due to the long flash channel and me putting too much prime in the pan. Most of the flash went over the hole. I drilled it out to .063 and reduced the prime, this speeded things up a lot but not enough. So I called Chambers before I made my next mods. Which were to be coning the outside slightly with a #1 centerdrill to shorten the flash channel and drilling the hole out a little more.
Chambers agreed about just "touching" the face with the centerdrill but recommended I only go up .003 to .067 on the hole size. During the conversation they asked about the liner size. They said they recommended the 5/15 for a 1.062 breech and larger due to the increased amount of powder in the funnel of the larger liner.
I made the forementioned mods and shot it Saturday. It is now as fast as any I have shot and I don't see the need for a larger liner. I personally believe that the length of the flash hole and the proper size has more to do with ignition speed than the size of the internal cone.
Horse Doctor, you are right, TOW does sell the other sizes, they just didn't send me the 5/16" with my component set.

I thought that must be their reasoning, to get a larger funnel on the inside. I make the funnel inside as large as I can safely make it and put the priming charge as far away as possible from the hole (a little pile all the way to the outside). When it flashes it blows right thru the hole and the powder is only about 1/32" into the hole. Can't miss it. Once in a while I might let a flint go until it doesn't fire because it needs knapping but I never get "flashes in the pan".
