Noticed one detail on the barrel to lock inlet. Every other build I have done I’ve had to inlet the barrel back more to match the rough lock inlet for the pan location to clear the breechplug for the touchhole. With the further most front inlet for this lock matching the touch hole location I will have to inlarge the sear bar hole moving the lock back. This will put the touchhole about 3/8” to 1/2” in front of the breech plug. Not sure what the norm is I’ve always had them right at the plug.

That’s quite a distance to have between touch hole and breech plug (a small powder charge will not work in such a setup.)
I haven’t built their Trade gun but I did have alignment issues with their Tennessee Classic kit. The lock was too far forward (or barrel too far back) by about 1/4”. I solved it by adding a matching wood shim/spacer at the breach (NOT by moving the lock or hogging out the lock mortise) and it worked great.

I already inletted the barrel waiting for the correct lock. Had to send the first one back (if I haven't stated that already) they sent a Virginia Fowler instead of the round English I ordered. Right now I'm just placing and eyeballing the lock location. I know it has to go further back. Doesn't look like there is very much room to move it without having a gap between the pan and where its inletted to the stock. .

I have said this many times before; NEVER let the P place cut your lock inlet, do it yourself so it will be in the right place.

Try this inletting job on for size, I did fix it but it took a while. I bought the kit second hand, still in the box, sight unseen so I didn't feel like anyone was responsible but me for not checking it out first.
