It was a good idea.....at the time?!

Well, I got my NIB .54 Kodiak cheap as a guy was clearing out a high dollar estate and it didn't fit in with the Winchesters and Colts. I don't plan on top-end loading it, anyway. Besides, this is one of the older ones with the roundball twist barrels. It is heavy (what double rifle wasn't?) But it sure makes you feel like you're standing next to Teddy in the tall elephant grass. Guess I ought to name it "Walter" after Mr. Mitty. Actually, "Mr. Mitty" might just do!

Pyrodex and Triple 7 seemed like a good idea until we couldn't buy real blackpowder anymore. They make hard fouling that is tough to remove, and they are just as if not more so corrosive.

I don't think the Kodiak was a bad idea, I used to think it would make a great elk rifle, but they're not legal for ML hunting in Colorado. I can't see much of any other use for it, so, yeah I guess it was a bad idea.
