I received my barrel today (Rice 32" swamped 58 caliber), and I think I have all my furniture, etc. But I'm still looking for wood. Walnut, at least 48" long, 2 1/2" thick. I'd like some European wood, but that seems to be nonexistent in those dimensions. A good piece of American walnut will do. I have several inquiries out, but no hits yet. Any suggestions?

They list 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" thickness. I imagine you could call and demand the thicker stock. If they won't do that then keep looking.

For European walnut your best bet is with Luxus Walnut, Ron Scott, or Cecil Fredi. Any of them would likely have the size that you need and if not they can get it. But be warned, good European walnut gets extremely expensive.

Ron Scott probably has some nice walnut for you. Not cheap but it is very nice

You ain't kidding, about the cost or the nice. But thank you. I sent him a note, and will probably pay the toll for his wood. Great selection, and most meet my dimensional requirements.

I get my blanks from Dunlap, they consistently have good walnut blanks, English and European too.

Thanks to all. I just ordered a nice, but certainly not top end, blank from Ron Scott. I've been in contact with some of the others suggested, but I think my 2 1/2" minimum put me outside the norm. Ron had what I was looking for.

Top end can put you in the poor house. Good luck with your build. I think a Jager will be my next build

You will not be disappointed with anything from Ron Scott. His stuff is top notch.
