I have acquired a .36 cal J P McCoy flintlock. It is beautiful and shoots very well. I would like to find out more about the maker or dealer of such guns. I can't find much when I google. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Badger 8985

They were in Las Vegas NV. many years ago, Jim Searless was the gunsmith. Per their catalog:
std model curly maple stock - std pull 14 3/8 drop at butt 3 3/4 drop at comb 1 3/8, L&R Manton Flint lock,13/16" barrel either 36" or 42",Davis dbl set trigger. Ihaven't had any luck finding any recent information on them.
I have one in .45 cal and love it. You can email me if have more questions

45flint, my McCoy flint shoots just ok.
what loads work for you.

The one I had was a nice lil rifle, especially for a production rifle. Beaut of a browning job on it & a beaut of a finish on the stock. Mine was a .36 cal. with a Orion barrel. It has a Plus P wood grade, very light & good shooter. The guy I got it from special ordered it & only shot it a couple of times, if I remember correctly. I don't remember the load I shot in it, but it was exctreemely accurate and at that time, my favorite squirrel rifle. It is the only . L&R lock I ever had that I considered a good reliable lock. JP Gunstocks are no longer in business.....
