I am in the process of installing a sling on my little .32 crockett and have decided to mount the front stud to the tang on the brass ramrod guide.

Do you folks think that would be rugged enough to do the job? I figured I had better ask someone with more knowledge of brass before I drill it out.

Well too late, I did it already :: Got to thinking about it I had almost an hour and a half into fabricating the parts so I just could not stop. This is just a hunting gun so if the tang wants to bend I will just bend it back and epoxy it to the stock. There is no mechanical reason the part would ever need to be removed.

This is sooo much better looking than the thimble mount.

If that doesn't hold up, remove the rib & drill a hole in the rib where the retaining screw would be against the barrel, and also so the sling swivel rests against the middle RR pipe. Then counterbore a hole for a screw in the front & rear of the sling mounting screw to make the rib secured there & it will stay with ya.

If you were to mount one to a fullstock or a Jaeger, you do it the same place only you put a underlug on the barrel & inlet it into the barrel channel & then you drill thru the forestock & the underlug so you have support there for the sling swivel.

Hey I like the looks of that. Was the ring peaned with a steel dowel? It makes it look like it was some how twisted into shape. Was that piece made from scratch?

You can make them from a big box nail or spike. Heat & flatten the ends & then drill one side out & drill/tap the other side. The lil notches are filed in with a chain saw file.

Or you can buy the sling made & drilled & taped from most of the ML parts venders. The one you would want for a ribbed barrel has the lugs real close to fit up close to the rib.
