welcome. I'm in the Ohio River Valley, but am part of the Jaeger Bn. (founder's name) of Roger's Rangers. There is an active branch in NY state you may want to contact. Here is the website link: Schroth's New York Company of Rogers' Rangers

Do contact whatever Unit you plain on joining to do the reenacting. They (or nuts like me with multiple available) likely have firelocks you can borrow for events for a year, or even to purchase. Also for Rangers, you don't necessarily want a full length bess. there are different eras of firelocks called bess, or muskets. the most appropriate for rangers would be a browned 1st model with about a foot of the barrel cut off and the lug reattached. My favorite is a Artiliary Carbine. (1756?) But I have one that is a 1748 with wood ramrod too...
Carry a hawk in the frog instead of a sword. The belly box should thread on the belt from behind the box, not across the front. Haversaks should be up under the armpit not loose...........more.....These two photos are from Ticonderoga, a year after the 250th was held. Most of us have made additional adjustments to our kit as research has become more readily available.
