My Kibler .54 colonial kit I put together back in July of 2018. Cold blued the barrel, rubbed it back, oiled and just let it wear. The lock was cleaned up and left in the white. The stock was treated with tannic acid and 2 Coats of iron nitrate. I then applied numerous coats of Tru oil. I coned the barrel and then hand filed the muzzle. Accuracy has not changed from stock. I use this rifle a lot. Great hunting rifle.

Nice job! Was that wood an upgrade to Jim's kit, or was that a standard piece of wood? It's really nice!

Great job.
I can't wait to order mine.
I just finished up a Kibler SMR just a couple weeks ago and I'm already trying to get another one.
I think I'm hooked.

that's a beauty and great job! I just picked up a Kibler Colonial in a trade and its a shooter just wish it was a 58 or a 54 as mine is a 50. it will work good for deer around here but not sure if its enough for elk.

bf586 - as a new guy to all of this "coned the barrel and then hand filed the muzzle"

i'm searching - but can't find what that means, the history behind it and/or how it was done - "way back" or now..

can you - or any other smart guy on the thread explain or give references - it looks very interesting..
