The trade gun is more of a rough service gun than a fowler, but it comes down to your personal choice on what you get. Either will serve just fine.
If I were getting a Clay Smith, I'd make or source my own trigger guard, as the one he uses is a little thin in gauge for my taste. His isn't wrong, just doesn't tickle my fancy.
