Thanks, Wick. Just received my new rivets and scales so I will go with them for this knife but I am going to look for a better, more PC knife kit and ask my auto mechanic for some soft iron welding rod for the pins. Have decided that a belt-knife of as correct a time period as I can manage will be more PC for belt/patch use. The more I read, the more I find that I don't know and the more questions I need to ask. baxter
 
i attach my scales with fiberglass resin, and when set, drill and pin with brazing rod as mentioned.

peaning slowly will expand it to where it won't ever come out, and the resin will seal the scales so water/moisture will not get under them and cause issues.

not sure i would attach scales without some sort of waterproof glue between them and the blade, even epoxy would be preferable to nothing.

i am sure it is not historically correct, but lets face it, the old dudes from back in the day would damn sure have used epoxies if they had them.
