knife sheath

made a sheath for a good skinnin knife i got last year out of some scrap leather. did the mountain men have belt loops on their sheaths or just tuck it in their trousers.

RT, most of the fur trade era sheaths that I have seen were just stuck behind the belt or tied to the belt with a thong.
This one would be stuck behind the belt with the fringe on the outside.
