I have been a fan of Harry K. McEvoy Tru-Bal stlye of throwing knives and have been telling myself I would make myself a set of them but never got around to it. I liked the heft and mass weight of his throwers. If they hit somewhere even close to the point they would bury themselves deep. Too light weight of a knife might not stick or just dangle and drop.
I have seen his stlye of blades reproduced and offered at various web sites.
On this knife, I used 1" strips of soaked rawhide wrapped around the tang with a broad piece covering laced along the bottom butt of the handle.
If I was to make another one I would use flat pieces and hide glue, not strips of rawhide, to build up the handle. Then another final piece of rawhide laced in place over the build up. This would make a smoother, less lumppy shaped handle.
If you find or make what your looking for be sure to post a thread on it, I would sure like to see it. :hatsoff:
