I do not know why, as pretty as the brass mounted guns are, but I just like the simplicity of the ironworks on the gun ... perhaps the color? I dunno. I tend to go more for the less ornamental guns anyway, such as the southern style rifles.

Less is more in this case anyway for me! :thumbsup:

when you lay your cheekbone on the stock it will most likly hurt from the recoil. instead lay you jawbone on the side of the cheek plate. your face & all will slide forward with the recoil. ie no pain. but your line of site may be higher... try different positions till you find one that feels good.
 
I'm going to concentrate on cheek placement when I got back this wk. I'm waiting on .562" mold from TOW before I shoot again. I shouldered my Virgina and Bucks Co. just to see how they fit up against my cheek and both the cheek piece was down around the corner of my mouth and jaw. Then shouldered the Berk's and on a natural hold looking down the sights my cheek was up high on the ridge of stock. I will have to make a conscious effort to move my face back and down where cheek piece rests at corner of mouth and jaw. Will try that as see.
