I replaced a Lott with an L&R several years back and like the L&R very well. It has been very reliable. I have a CVA Blunderbuss kit from the mid-70's that I've been reworking for the last twenty years. Has anyone here messed with the Maslin replacements that L&R sells for the CVA's and traditions type guns? I talked to TotW about them and have my reservations because they are pre-drilled for the lock screws. Any problems there or do they really "drop-in"? Thanx...

I took a Traditions caplock and changed it to a flintlock using an L+R RPL lock. The lock dropped in with just a slight bit of wood trimming and the screws lined up just fine.

I had to tap a new screw hole for my Traditions replacement and had to reshape the lock mortice to get mine to fit. I wonder now if they sent me the right replacement? :hmm: The darker areas around the lock is where I filled the gaps.

I replaced a T.C. lock with an L&R flinter and it went well. I had to remove a lot of wood due to the difference between the T.C. coil spring and the L&R flat spring. The lock srcew hole lined up well and it worked very well. Had great service from L&R the one time I needed something too!

I found that the replacement lock listed in the TOW catalog for Traditions doesn't fit a Traditions well at all (L&R Lock-LR-02-F, page 197 of the current catalog).

There's a different lock in the TOW catalog that is just about a perfect fit for my Traditions Hawken. (Manton & Ashmore Lock-LR-900, page 186 of the current catalog.) It has more curve to it, not as straight as the lock above.
