I'm trying to make my Lyman Plains pistol more versatile. I've fired lead shot through it a couple times at close range, with varied results. I'd like to make some shot cups, so the pattern is less influenced by the rifling and performs more like a smoothbore. Any ideas? Thanks

I saw a video a while back, that the shooter was using #6 shot and equal amounts of powder and shot, measured by volume. I remember him saying it wasn't good past about 15 yards.

Use aluminum foil for your shot charge. You will get a few extra yards out of it for a pattern.
Not a long range solution. My smoothbore pistol is good to 30 feet for spruce grouse.

I like the aluminum foil idea. I suppose you wrap a square section, of it around a dowel, then twist one end or fill it with shot and twist both ends. Might be something to try. Thanks

I agree with David on amount of shot to use. I wonder If one packed shot in lard would work or a bees wax. Please don't try this without good advice from someone. I've never tried it but I have wondered. Again ask around before you try it. Be safe
