Well I’m already for winter so I was wondering if any of you gents make your own lead shot with some type of home made shot maker not a boughten one .so I thought well the weather is cooperating and I have free time I might get a few tips or even a few pictures on how to go about making my own lead shot .Look forward to lots of tips tricks and pictures and thankyou in advance .Walt
Ps I’ve looked on you tube but would like converse with someone who’s actually done it themselves .

I’ve done it using a couple different methods, but the best I could come up with was some very inconsistent ‘swan shot’ which was about the size of some buckshot sizes and too big for small game here in Tennessee. I used methods found on YouTube videos by Ramshackle Homestead and Stillwater Woodcraft. I didn’t have any desire to learn a better method so I just order mine from Rotometals.

Yeah I would amagine your squirrels make ours up here look like mice or really small rats .lol thanks for your reply

It's hard enough to get your shotgun to pattern well using store bought shot but using homemade irregular shot would be a nightmare:oops::rolleyes::eek:! Save yourself the hassle and aggravation and buy the REAL stuff.

This is not meant to argue, just as a counter point of view:

Sometimes there is great enjoyment to be had just trying the process! It may well be a failure, but maybe not. And along the way, one enjoys the creative process (even with its frustrations). It doesn't have to be repeated if the hassle outweighed the entertainment.

Yes and the fact that getting any thing related to shooting is hard to get up hear if you can get across from the USA it is stupid exspensive. And if those poor Russian and Ukrainian guys can make not bad shot in a couple soup cans I gotta try .I was hopping some one out there was making it and could lend some advice that’s all thanks .

Use a round ring camp stove and a coffee can with small holes in the bottom, let the lead drip through the center ring into a bucket of water with diesel fuel floating on top.
With diesel on top uh I think some those guys use molasses I think I’ll give it a try thanks.

This subject really interests me, I'm to old and disabled to hunt anymore yet I still skeet shoot. I load my own and shoot for fun, be it 2-1/2" BP shells or my 16 bore SxS ML. I have many pounds of pure lead and I only need so many fishing sinkers so I would give it a try. Heck I designed a rig to wash gasoline to get E10 out of it for my vintage equipment I'll start thinking about making lead shot.
