I was raised with at least 1 loaded gun in every room everyone visiting knew it too. For as long as I remember there was a .38 spc S&W snub on the T.V. and a mossberg 12 ga. pump up against the hallway corner on a 1 gun rack. we were trained not to touch it unless someone was at the front door we didn't know, then we covered whoever opened the door to answer. Did this for about 18 yrs til I moved out, no one was shot by accident during the whole time period. There were a cpl of surprised guys who tried to push their way passed my mom a time or 2. the door to door solicitations dropped pretty quick after that.
