Anyone try Lehigh Valley lube as a rust preventor? It makes a great patch lube but I do not know if it would help with rust very well. What do you all think who have tried it as a rust preventor?

I don't know about rust preventative. It seems to dry out on the patch when used as a patch lube. But boy can Leheigh work as a cleaner. I wet a patch with the stuff and siphon water, and as soon as it mixes with water a rich grey foam is created and run the patch up and down till the cleaning path has holes and suction is lost (or foam stops). Repeat with a couple of times ( usually once more is enough). Dry with a couple of clean patches (usually less than 5 ). When this is done the barrel interior is grey. I think this is seasoned? All black powder residue seems to be removed. A clean patch down the bore a month or so later will be brown. Leheigh makes cleaning a barrel such as the Green Mountain with deep square lands and groves quicker , easier , and more complete. I like the stuff for cleaning. :) Brokendash
