Took the Navy Lemat to the range today. We didnt do any "bench rest" accuracy tests but instead shot one handed duelling style at a 8" bullseye and at pop cans. Range was 25 yards.

Loaded 30gr Pyrodex P in the cylinders and fired, all 9 on the 11x11 target paper! 2 were near bullseyes. next loaded 40gr of FF Goex and 4 .32 balls in the shot barrel, all hit the dirt at about 20 yds. Put two more cylinders of .451 thru her an she is minute of pop can but she was binding up so bad I stopped. THen loaded 60gr FF and 5 balls (using index card pieces for over shot and over powder. All balls hit near the 11x11 paper.

Just spent 45 min cleaning, and looking at the shot barrel there is now a small groove cut into the top of it right where the forward edge of the cylinder is, I have checked the cylinder for a burr but I dont think there is anything there. Any thoughts?

Hello,

Like with Remington or Colt, the flame will cut the central barrel on the Lemat. I am afraid it is normal

Regards

I have a Remmie that has fired less than 25 shots and it has a noticable flame cut. The good news is the cutting will stop after a bit and not get any deeper. It's normal.

Thanks for the enlightenment, I love this thing! Now I just need some proper wads, cards and a good field holster and recommendations on the leather?

If you're not looking to buy anything fancy, or you're cheap like I am, try Cabela's. I found a nice, unlined heavy leather holster and heavy 1-3/4" belt for less than $35.

The holster fits my Ruger Old Army like a glove.I realize the LeMat is a totally different gun, but they might have something that will work for you.
